This is a common question before people do some blood cholesterol test. If you have high blood cholesterol levels that make higher your risk for cardiovascular diseases. There are no early warning symptoms of high cholesterol, so to know whether you have high blood cholesterol levels, you doctor may order a blood test to diagnosing your cholesterol levels.    
Simple screening cholesterol test is done without fasting, but measures only the total cholesterol and the HDL ‘good’ cholesterol. It will give you a ballpark figure, but far from accurate.    
The complete test is called a lipid profile test. This test will measure:    
-Total cholesterol,     
-LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol,     
-HDL ‘good’ cholesterol     
-Triglycerides.     
If you have scheduled for lipid profile test, you should do fasting before blood lipid test. Fast before blood lipid test include, not eating anything and drinking (except for water) for 12 hours before the blood sample drawn. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours before testing and you should tell your doctor about any medication you taking, that may affect the accuracy of the results.

Why nuts such as walnuts and almonds can help to lowering cholesterol?  And walnuts and almonds can lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).
    
Nuts such as almonds pecans and walnuts have high amounts of monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fat so this helps to lower high cholesterol.     

New studies have suggested that eating nuts and especially the almonds with the skins may be beneficial for those who have elevated cholesterol.  Walnuts and almonds are especially good.  Eating about three ounces of walnuts a day is shown to decrease blood cholesterol levels by 10% more than an already low fat, low cholesterol diet.      
Walnuts are high in fat, but it is mostly polyunsaturated fat, which is the kind that lowers cholesterol.  Another study shows that about three ounces of almonds which are rich in monounsaturated fat, lowers LDL by 9%!
    
Do you like nuts?  If you do, sprinkle a few on your cereal, bake them into muffins or pancakes or add them to casseroles or stir-fries.  In fact, if you want to lower your cholesterol, get more of your daily fat intake from fats and less fat intake from animal proteins.  
    
Walnuts and almonds can help to lowering cholesterol.  Walnuts and almonds are one of the low cholesterol diet foods.  They can help you to lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) in your blood that means lower risk to heart disease.
